The usual ebb and flow of life has been more flow lately, and I haven’t had as much time to write – or ride – as I’d like. ThrottleGirl went through the 18 month sleep regression, a cruel trick of nature where a toddler that finally started sleeping through the night at 15 months stopped sleeping through the night again at 17 months. ThrottleGirl went through about two and a half weeks of bedtime battles (the worst night, it took four hours to get her to finally conk out) and extreme crankiness (because she was tired), giving us a preview of the terrible twos.
I’m also preparing for a class that I will be teaching in the fall, and trying to keep up with two writing side gigs, one of which suddenly took up a ton of time. Since ThrottleDad will be putting ThrottleGirl to bed a few nights a week once I start teaching, we’ve needed to make a few changes to her routine, namely adding a big girl bed to her room that ThrottleDad will fit on. In the beginning, we decided not to sleep train the little one, and so every night after story time, I lie down with ThrottleGirl in her crib until she falls asleep. I am small, so this mostly works for me. ThrottleDad is not small, and he won’t fit in the crib – hence the twin-sized floor bed we just moved into ThrottleGirl’s room yesterday. But change is tough for toddlers. We’ll see how she adjusts to this new bed.
Let’s not even talk about the fact that she is totally ready for potty training. That’s going to have to wait a month at least – don’t want too many changes happening at once.
With all of this going on, personal projects and household chores have been swept to the side the last month or so, including this blog. But I’m going to try and get back at it, so please bear with me. More moto content coming soon.
